i'm bored at work so this might be a long read :)
Friday - 12.10.10
1st official play hooky skip work day for me and i think it
was well worth it. Peter, Tom and I headed up the hills and when we got
there, the snow was deep with over 2+ feet more coming down over the
week. on top of like 5 feet.
We still don't have a base though, so this can make for some
interesting sled stucks when you step off and fall through to your
chest. its kinda gnarly actually.
here is one of those stuck moments a few minutes after Tom packed down
the area around him just to get up to waist deep.

that wasn't the 1st or the last stuck of the day but probably the
worst.. :)
so we venture on, breaking trail almost every where we went, reminder,
its friday and the working bubba sledders are no where to be found.
in search of some good board lines was tough going as well as we were
breaking trails everywhere and well, the powder sledding is just as fun!
so, here, we do some powder sledding.
gotta thank Tom for bringing his steady cam. i failed and only had the
GoPro for Video..

the default location for a short break at GC is always the Tower.. Tom
throws up some what what's for his dead sled homies. while Pete gives a
ehhhh, 50/50 its just so so for lack of throttle control...

on the way down from the tower and towards some more merrier lands i
decieded it would be a nice time to get Trenched!

I wasn't the only one though in this area with stuck fever :)
so we rolled on.. breaking more trails laying down carves and generally
enjoying this DEEP ass snow.
as we got close to the warming cabin we decided to go take a break
there.. but low and behold i took a wrong route down through the trees
ending up in some gully run outs while Peter, i think smiling the whole
time still was like.. WTF dude!!!
we made it out of the trees and what lay ahead was a 10foot drift to
conquer to get up an over to the road and back out..
I gave it my all.. but, well, my ALL wasn't good enough..
luckily Pete was right behind me learning the hard way that following
me isn't always the best choice..
thanks for the help bro!

after laying down some ground work Pete braaaaped up and out no problem!

after the last few stucks we decided it was time to start rolling out..
so, we did.. a successful day and all in all super fun!
time to head down, clean up and hit Jim's bday party instead of resting
for the next days deep snow session.
beer, karaoki, beer.. sleep....
Saturday 12.11.10 WAKE UP!
Today was the lazy start, Just Tom and I rolled up this day and
for once it felt good to be lazy getting to the mountains.. after all
we did break trail for all the weekend sled gooners already
so whats the rush? we rolled into the snowpark round 9:30 yawning
with anticipation.. and when things move slow i end up taking pictures
into my goggles..
u know the routine.

So, we slowly geared up unloaded and hit the trail..
todays main mission SNOWBOARDING.. so we ventured out to one of our
usual zones looking for some features to face plant off and we found
just that..
unfortunitely once we got home base setup and started our tandem taxi
routine the storm rolled in TOUGH and nuclear is the word i liked to
use to describe it..
we hit a cool pillow drop and some pow faces above it for about 2+
hours before calling it quits on that..
i pulled this vid capture shot of Tom cranking out some stock tricks
tho.. the landings here were bottomless and fun!..

so.. we started our roll out all the while getting nuked on by snow,
but that didn't detour us from a plan B of finding some new areas.
with some tricky climbs thru trees and up to a ridge we soon found the
Time Warp Tree Tunnel... this tunnel led to big rolly meadows of
boondocking snow fields..
but I can't show you those pictures as i swore to secrecy..
I can show you the tunnel tho. if you find this tunnel.. u will
find the time warp. this picture does no justice to the tunnel.

I won't drag this already long story on much longer... don't worry..
we rolled out after the plan b mission in the storm and got back to the
lot to find the typical Wa.Nina powder covered trailer.. thats a solid
6".. and that is what SHE SAID! :P

the drive home was either a blizzard of snow or a blizzard of rain..
the rain that night ended up in a flooded basement sunday morning.. but
this is about riding DEEP powder.
not my whooh's of cleaning up a flooded basement..
the 3 day weekend was quite eventful i'd say. :)
the end.
